In just a couple of weeks 2025 will be in the books. Every year, time seems to move more rapidly. It feels like it’s mid-summer, and then, poof, it’s New Year’s Eve and we’re watching the ball drop in Times Square. This is a great time to pause and reflect on the year that is closing out, and think about the year to come.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day that you don’t remember the wins or lessons learned through the year. Without this time to reflect it’s hard to reset and look forward. When you don’t look forward it’s easy to head down a path that doesn’t help your long term goals.

So, consider this your reminder to stop, reflect, reset, and plan ahead. I’m also going to share a couple of my observations on my own journey.

I started the year entering the second year of my YouTube Channel and Blog. In January I had just launching my Newsletter (thank you for subscribing by the way). I was pretty happy about the traction I was seeing on the personal content front. This personal content is really fun for me as it allows me to stretch my legs, think about some of these topics more deeply, and allows me to grow outside the confines of the day job.

The day job (at Pax8) has been pretty terrific this year as well. I get a LOT of agency to help our partners grow their businesses without a ton of corporate interference. The litmus test each day has truly been: Am I doing a good thing for a partner (or partners)? If yes, then proceed. That test allows me to overlook most things outside my control.

Ultimately, my whole goal (both personal and work) for my content and Peer Groups is to help MSPs get better. I’m certain that this is what I want to do for the foreseeable future.

Every day I get to help even a single MSP do something better is a good day. I’m proud that the vast majority of my days in 2025 were spent doing just that.

There were some lessons learned throughout the year as well. I need to say no more often and ask more questions than opine on things. I often find that the soap box is an easy thing for me to jump on.

I also MUST spend time each week and a time each day to make sure that I’m working on the most important things. It’s easy to follow a rabbit trail out into nowhere which can really burn up that precious time.

As I look forward into 2026 I’m absolutely excited for our in-person Peer Group meetings. They always are a blast, and I really think we’re doing great work for our Partners. Could we do better? Sure, but we are always trying to improve along the way.

I’m also about as excited as I get about a new business venture my wife and I are starting. I’ll share more about that below, but it’s one of the big things I’m looking forward to in 2026.

Here are a couple of stats in case you were curious:

  • YouTube: 23,000 views | 1800 watch hours | 1330 (+632) subscribers | 57 videos released
  • Newsletter/Blog: 134 newsletter subscribers | 3300 blog post views

It’s not entirely about the numbers, but reflecting on them is important from time-to-time. If I’m in your shoes I’m looking at client counts, seat counts, employee count, revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA. How did you fare throughout the year? What wins did you have, and what lessons did you learn?

Thanks for coming along for the ride with me in 2025, and I look forward to an even better 2026!

Looking for an MSP Bookkeeper?

I mentioned in the main section that my wife and I are launching a new business in 2026. We are launching an MSP focused bookkeeping business. I’m proud to let everyone know that we are launching on January 1st, 2026. The company name is Nordic Sky LLC.

We will specialize in bookkeeping for MSPs with a side of financial consulting to go along with the bookkeeping.

If you know me, you know that I’m a huge financial data visualization guy, and my wife is the detail oriented person in the relationship. She’s been in the financial sector for her 25+ year career and is transitioning her knowledge to focus on the MSP side of things. She’s pretty great.

This newsletter will remain as it is, releasing new content about once a month. It won’t transition to be a straight up advertisement for the new business. I’ll mention it where it makes sense, but my goal is to keep bringing good MSP focused content that talks about all things MSP. Not just finance.

If you want to know more you can check out our landing page now here: https://nordicsky.us. The full site will launch on 1/1/2026, and you can also sign up to be notified when we’re live.
